Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team at Jones Bros Civil Engineering. This role will be based on-site, working closely with the Quality Manager and project team to ensure the successful delivery of a major UK construction project.

The ideal candidate will have a relevant qualification in Civil Engineering or Construction and experience in earthworks testing procedures. A background in CQA Engineering is beneficial, as is experience working on reservoir projects. The successful applicant will possess excellent record-keeping skills, strong communication abilities, and a good understanding of Specification for Highway Works.

This is a site-based position, requiring flexible working hours and regular travel within the UK. We offer a competitive salary of £40,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a discretionary project performance bonus, company vehicle/car allowance, and contributory pension scheme.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspecting, recording, and documenting earthworks processes for quality assurance purposes
  • Inspecting workmanship and quality of delivered works
  • Recording quality to a suitable level of detail in accordance with specifications, ITPs, and QMS documentation
  • Liaising with site lab and Quality Manager to facilitate in-situ testing
  • Identifying defects with works and resolving them quickly and effectively
  • Supporting the Quality Manager and QA team with production of QA documents and reviewing design and construction documents from a quality perspective
  • Reviewing classification of excavated material on site to ensure compliance with specifications
  • Working with project management and engineering staff to improve quality of work on site
  • Promoting health and safety on site
  • Ensuring works are completed to programme

What We Are Looking For:

  • A relevant qualification in Civil Engineering or Construction (Degree/HNC or similar)
  • Experience in earthworks testing procedures
  • CQA Engineering background beneficial
  • Reservoir project experience beneficial but not essential
  • Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years' experience
  • UKAS Soils Laboratory testing experience beneficial
  • Proactive approach to highlighting and resolving non-conformance testing results
  • Excellent record-keeping skills and knowledge of AutoDesk Construction Cloud Platform desirable
  • Strong communication skills and ability to discuss technical aspects with other technical and non-technical individuals
  • Good understanding of Specification for Highway Works
  • Relevant qualifications including CSCS Card
  • Strong knowledge of HSQE regulations
  • Computer literacy with good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office programs
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and able to work in a team and independently
  • Site-based hours
  • Full UK driving licence required
