Position Description

As a Bioinformatics IT Specialist, you'll play a key role in supporting our research and development initiatives. You'll work closely with our team of experienced bioinformaticians to develop and implement bioinformatics tools, manage and analyze genomic data, and optimize algorithms for data processing and analysis. Your expertise will help us drive innovation and improve our molecular diagnostic applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and document bioinformatics tools to improve processes in molecular assay development
  • Manage and analyze small- and large-scale genomic, transcriptomics, or other biological datasets
  • Implement and optimize algorithms for data processing and analysis; develop and maintain databases and web-based tools for data storage and retrieval
  • Support the planning and coordination of studies, including writing protocols and reviewing documents
  • Provide IT support for bioinformatics infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, and cloud computing environments
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to bioinformatics tools and systems
  • Become a knowledge expert for bioinformatic workflows and coach colleagues to ensure a learning environment
  • Ensure adherence to design control procedures and quality and regulatory standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or Perl
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g. Git)
  • Experience in the analysis of genomics data (NGS and/or PCR) and knowledge of human genetics, genomics, and/or infectious disease
  • Knowledge of core bioinformatics tools and relevant bioinformatics databases (dbSNP, COSMIC, etc.)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
