Culinary Operations Assistant

About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Canteen Cook to support our client in Melksham for a 3-month fixed-term contract.
In this role, you will assist the Canteen Supervisor in daily operations and provide cover during their absence.
This position offers a great work-life balance with no evening, weekend, or bank holiday shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage kitchen opening and closing procedures
- Oversee daily kitchen management
- Handle cash transactions and end-of-day reporting
- Source and prepare food
- Maintain high kitchen hygiene standards
- Provide excellent customer service and manage the service counter
- Stock and clean vending machines
- Ensure canteen tables are clean and tidy
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the hospitality and catering industry
- Strong knowledge of the Safer Food, Better Business Manual
- Ability to manage daily kitchen operations and handle cash
- Experience in food preparation, ordering, and maintaining cleanliness standards
Benefits:
- 30 hours per week (with a paid 20-minute break)
- Uniform provided
- Monday to Friday shifts, no evenings, weekends, or bank holidays
