Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Microwave Electronics Engineer to join our team at Leonardo. As a key member of our Antenna Core Delivery Team, you will play a crucial role in the design, development, and testing of GaAs/GaN MMIC designs for various defense and space projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop GaAs/GaN MMICs by analyzing system requirements and specifications
  • Conduct feasibility studies and evaluate design alternatives to ensure optimal performance and efficiency
  • Carry out detailed simulations and modeling to verify the performance of your GaAs/GaN MMIC designs and ensure compliance with requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate your microwave designs into our Electronically Scanned Antennas
  • Test and troubleshoot your designs to identify and resolve any issues or inefficiencies
  • Generate technical reports and documentation to communicate design methodologies, analyses, and test results
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in microwave technology and incorporate new methodologies into design processes
  • Collaborate with external partners and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of components and materials

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or a related field
  • Proven experience in GaAs / GaN MMIC design, preferably in frequencies up to or above X-Band
  • Proficiency in using CAD tools for microwave design, such as Keysight ADS, Microwave Office, or CST Microwave Studio
  • Strong knowledge of Microwave components and devices, such as High Power Amplifiers, Attenuators, Phase Shifters, Low Noise Amplifiers, Switches
  • Experienced in using microwave test equipment, including network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and oscilloscopes
  • Solid understanding of electromagnetic field theory and transmission line theory, matching techniques
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
