About the Role

The NIHR is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Research Manager to lead the delivery of the Global Health Research (GHR) Centres programme. This is a critical role that requires a strategic thinker with excellent stakeholder management skills and experience in managing complex research projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver effective monitoring approaches for the GHR Centres programme
  • Manage a portfolio of funded GHR projects
  • Produce scheme level Annual Reviews
  • Represent the team in cross-NIHR MEL focussed activities
  • Engage with stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration
  • Lead commissioning activities for future funding calls
  • Provide flexible support to the team
Line Management

The post holder will be responsible for the line management of one fixed-term Research Manager and will matrix manage other team members as required.

What You Will Bring
  • Experience of managing and monitoring ODA funded research activities in international and fragile contexts
  • Demonstrable experience in complex stakeholder management and communication
  • Proven track record of leading research projects and teams
Desirable Qualifications
  • Specific experience of research management in biomedical and health research disciplines
  • Experience in leading research commissioning activities
  • Experience of delivering participatory Monitoring, Learning and Evaluation activities
  • Experience of working with UK Government and/or international policy makers and senior decision makers
