New Categories R&D Sustainability Undergraduate Placement

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented undergraduate student to join our Research and Development function in Southampton, UK. As part of our Sustainability team, you will contribute to the environmental impact assessment of our New Category products.

This 12-month placement will provide you with hands-on experience in supporting the Life Cycle Analysis, Environmental Impact Mapping, circularity, and carbon reduction activities of our New Category products. You will work closely with our design teams to identify alternative materials and designs for lower carbon initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Life Cycle Analysis of BAT's New Category products
  • Process data and conduct trend analysis on the environmental impact of our New Category products
  • Update key performance metrics on circularity
  • Collaborate with design teams to identify alternative materials and designs for lower carbon initiatives
Requirements:
  • Currently studying towards an undergraduate degree in Chemistry, Biology, Materials, or Environmental Sciences
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent data analysis and presentation skills
  • Passion for sustainability and environmental impact reduction
