Laboratory Administrative and Clerical Officer

About the Role
This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust as a Laboratory Administrative and Clerical Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Cellular Pathology Department, working closely with the team to ensure the smooth operation of the histology office.
Main Responsibilities
- Inputting patient details and results onto the laboratory computer system
- Requests, tracks, and dispatches patient records using hospital database
- Receives, sorts, and distributes internal and external mail
- Performs telephone duties, including making and receiving calls to and from the laboratory, transmitting confidential results and complex sensitive information to hospital clinicians, GPs, other healthcare professionals, and external agencies in line with departmental policies
- Generates computer reports and performs photocopying and filing duties of blocks and slides
- Pull and collate patient information for MDT meetings for pathologist review
- Demonstrates excellent personal communication and team working skills
- Complies with the requirement to practice within data protection and confidentiality guidelines
- Works to ensure that departmental performance targets are met by continually assessing priority of work
About the Team
The Cellular Pathology Department is a busy and dynamic team, with a combined workload of around 55,000 for histology and 7,000 for Royal Berks and Wexham Park Hospitals. We perform a wide range of Immunohistochemistry techniques and OSNA, and have full UKAS accreditation. We are looking for a candidate who is a competent and versatile individual with excellent team working and communication skills, and must be able to work with accuracy at all times.

- Numeracy and literacy as demonstrated by GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths
- Experience of database systems to include data input/entry/retrieval
- Previous NHS experience
