Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Perfusionist to join our team at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust. As a key member of the clinical perfusion department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and support during cardiac surgery and other interventions.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage and control cardiopulmonary function to enable cardiac surgery and support that function during other interventions.
  • Participate in the on-call and late duty rotas, ensuring 24/7 coverage.
  • Prepare equipment and disposable items for cardiopulmonary bypass and autologous blood salvage procedures.
  • Operate the heart-lung machine and auxiliary equipment to maintain patients' clinical conditions within physiological parameters.
  • Undertake and interpret blood gas analysis, Thromboelastography testing, and other relevant investigations.
  • Set up and operate monitoring and safety devices, and prepare equipment for vacuum-assisted venous drainage and carbon dioxide flushing.

Requirements

  • Have experience of independent working and fulfilling a 24/7 on-call rota.
  • Be able to supervise trainee perfusionists, assist in developing training programs, and act as a mentor.
  • Ensure quality control and maintenance of equipment, including the blood gas analyser.

Working Arrangements

This is a fixed-term position, with a salary range of £46,148 - £52,809 per annum. We offer flexible working arrangements, commensurate with trust policies.
