Advanced Practitioner Vet Training Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated veterinary surgeon to join our team as an Advanced Practitioner in a unique training role.

This exciting opportunity involves working with our referral services, emergency critical care, and first opinion team, providing a blend of clinical independence and support as you continue to develop your skills.

As a clinical associate practice of Nottingham Vet School, we are committed to helping develop the next generation of vets and continually developing our team to the highest standards.

The role includes:

Referrals

Working alongside our referral clinicians, you will have the opportunity to follow challenging cases from start to finish and develop new skills and knowledge.

You will also have dedicated study days to support completion of the University of Nottingham's RCVS Certificate of Advanced Veterinary Practice (CertAVP).

First Opinion

Two days per week will be dedicated to first opinion general practice work, including routine and emergency consultations and surgery in a supportive environment.

You will have the opportunity to fully work-up complex cases, including advanced imaging.

Emergency Out-of-Hours Work

The role also includes six nights and two weekend day shifts dedicated to emergency out-of-hours work.

You will have access to a structured ECC (Emergency and Critical Care) induction programme, designed to build your confidence and skills for sole charge out-of-hours work.

You will see emergency cases as well as caring for first opinion and referral inpatients.

To maintain a healthy work-life balance, appropriate time off is provided following out-of-hours shifts.

Requirements
  • Eligible for enrolment in the University of Nottingham's RCVS CertAVP

  • RCVS registered, or eligible to register
