We are an esteemed nursery in the picturesque Surrey countryside, renowned for our innovative approach to outdoor learning. Our recently established Forest School is an extension of our existing setting, offering young children a unique opportunity to thrive through nature-based exploration.

This role demands a hands-on, dynamic leader who can work collaboratively with our dedicated nursery team to create a safe, engaging, and fun outdoor environment for children. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading and managing the Forest School program for young children in a natural outdoor setting.
  • Developing creative, nature-based learning activities such as bushcraft, den building, nature walks, sensory play, and seasonal crafts.
  • Fostering a lifelong love of the outdoors and promoting the numerous benefits of outdoor play and exploration in all weather conditions.
  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of children at all times by conducting thorough risk assessments and adhering to established safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and lead engaging outdoor learning sessions that cater to diverse age groups and abilities.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues to create an inclusive, stimulating environment that encourages social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Establish strong relationships with children, providing individualized support and guidance to foster their learning and emotional well-being.
  • Maintain high professional standards by adhering to our nursery's policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • A Level 3 Childcare qualification (or willingness to pursue one).
  • A genuine passion for outdoor learning and ability to inspire and engage children in nature-based activities.
  • Ability to work comfortably in various weather conditions.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection protocols.
  • Experience leading small groups of children and managing challenging behaviors.
