We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our Paediatric Endocrine Diabetes Service at the Nottingham Children's Hospital. The successful candidate will provide specialist clinical psychology services for children and young people with endocrine, diabetes, and DSD conditions.
Main DutiesThe successful candidate will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide consultation, direct work, and attend multidisciplinary clinics. The base will predominantly be at the Children's Hospital QMC campus. The candidate will be part of a welcoming and growing Clinical Psychology Department, incorporating specialisms in Paediatric Psychology, Adult Medical Psychology, and Child and Adult Neuropsychology.
About UsOur department offers opportunities for continued professional development and clinical supervision is well provided for within the paediatric clinical psychology team. We regularly have trainees from the DClinPsy courses around the region, so there would be opportunities to supervise trainees. The department has a commitment to clinical research, and strong support is available to participate in research or to develop your clinical research interests.
Person Specification- Completed (or due to complete in 2024) postgraduate doctoral level DClinPsy in clinical psychology as accredited by the BPS
- Current HCPC registration for Clinical Psychologist (or eligibility to qualify for registration in 2024)
- Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS/HCPC
- Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
- Previous training in medical psychology
- Training in the supervision of other psychological professionals
- Experience of teaching, training, and/or professional and clinical supervision
- Experience of working with people with medical/chronic physical health conditions and across a range of severity and presentations
- Experience of exercising clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment
- Experience of working with children and young people
- Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience of conducting risk assessments
- Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, highly technical, and clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers, and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS
- Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups
- Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health
- Ability to develop and use complex multi-media materials for presentations in public, professional, and academic settings
- Ability to move between a number of locations within the Region in a working day
- Up to date immunisations are required, including TB and HepB
