Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Licensing Manager to join our team at WildBrain CPLG. As a key member of our commercial team, you will be responsible for driving the growth and development of our softlines category.

Key Responsibilities
  • Category Lead - Softlines: Lead the development and execution of long-term growth strategies for the softlines category.
  • Commercial Strategy: Work closely with the Commercial Director to develop and execute commercial strategies that drive revenue growth and profitability.
  • Licensee Management: Manage a portfolio of licensees to grow the CP business, critically evaluating the licensee base to ensure we have the right number of partners and best-in-category overall.
  • Business Development: Identify licensing opportunities and fill market gaps across the category, considering age, segment, market, channel, and franchise.
  • Contract Negotiations: Lead contract negotiations for key licensees, analyzing and controlling business plans to ensure contract deliverables are met throughout the term.
  • Relationship Management: Accountable for day-to-day management of key licensees, including business reviews, relationships, deal negotiations, information sharing, and ensuring financial reporting is up to date.
  • Market Analysis: Maintain knowledge of key seasonality per category and buying cycles of retailers, planning accordingly.
  • Industry Trends: Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, competitors, business opportunities, threats, and dynamics for the category and key licensees.
  • Presentation and Communication: Work on the creation of targeted presentations to pitch, support, or launch licensing opportunities, and attend and present at licensee/partner presentations.
  • Travel and Collaboration: Regular attendance of trade shows and social industry functions, as well as travel to meet with licensees and partners.
  • Fiscal Responsibility: Fiscal responsibility to include annual budget planning and quarterly revenue forecasting.
  • Business Performance Analysis: Analyze business performance across the category by licensee and develop growth objectives and strategies.
  • Brand Marketing: Support brand marketing initiatives, including the development and execution of category plans.
  • Licensee Integration: Define and integrate licensees within wider brand and marketing plans.
Requirements
  • Strong Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of brand and property positioning and the retail environment.
  • Licensee Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of licensees' production and creative capabilities/limitations.
  • Strategic Thinking: Strategic and creative thinker with the ability to adjust to changing business environments.
  • Communication and Presentation: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to negotiate and build relationships with licensees and partners.
  • Team Player: A team player with a strong ability to collaborate and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Travel and Flexibility: Willingness to travel and flexibility to adjust to changing business needs.
  • Language Skills: Strong verbal and written English required.
