About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in the Business Intelligence Service of Leicestershire County Council, as part of the wider health and care intelligence system. We are now recruiting to a new Apprentice Research and Insight Analyst in our busy Business Intelligence Service (22 months initially, with a minimum 20% of time dedicated to Level 7 training).

Working as part of a large and innovative Business Intelligence Service, liaising closely with colleagues across the council. You will be based in the Public Health Intelligence team but will have the opportunity to work with teams across the health and care spectrum. You will be trained to provide research, insight and analytical support for strategic planning, service delivery and commissioning within the council and wider health system.

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual, educated to degree level with a good maths or statistical component, with interest in working in an analytical/business intelligence environment, researching specific issues and managing and analysing data.

You must also be interested in presenting data and information using a variety of IT packages, you will have good IT skills and proven ability to learn new packages. Knowledge of tools such as Tableau (or similar visualisation packages), SPSS, R, and Excel (or equivalent) would be an advantage. Though not essential as a full programme of training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide research, insight and analytical support for strategic planning, service delivery and commissioning within the council and wider health system.
  • Work with teams across the health and care spectrum to gather requirements, prepare materials and produce high-quality analytical reports, statistics, data, dashboards and presentations for a variety of audiences.
  • Manage and analyse data, using tools such as Tableau, SPSS, R and Excel.
  • Present data and information using a variety of IT packages.

Requirements

  • Degree (or equivalent) level in a relevant subject with a good maths/statistical component.
  • Interest in researching specific issues and managing and analysing data.
  • Good IT skills with the ability to present data and information using a variety of IT packages.
  • Ability to prepare high-quality reports, dashboards and presentations for a variety of audiences.
  • Awareness of questionnaire design and qualitative research methods.
  • Good literacy, numeracy and presentation skills with care and concern for the accuracy of information and evidence of attention to detail.
