This role is perfect for experienced supply/cover supervisors and recent graduates looking for classroom experience before potentially going into teaching.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise classes during the short-term absence of teachers, ensuring students remain on task with their work.
    • Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans and manage student behaviour in accordance with the school's policy.
      • Assist with the setting up of activities and supporting students where necessary.
        • Act as a role model and set high expectations for students.
          • Provide feedback to the regular class teacher on student progress and any issues encountered.
            • Support the school in other capacities as required, including assisting with exam invigilation or other administrative tasks.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Cover Supervisor or in a similar role within a secondary school setting (Not essential for recent graduates)
    • Degree or teaching qualification.
      • Strong classroom management skills with the ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
        • A good understanding of the UK curriculum across key stages.
          • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
            • Adaptability and the ability to manage a diverse range of students.
              • A valid Enhanced DBS check registered with the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
