Job Description

This exciting opportunity is for a Senior Advanced Oncology Practitioner to join our team in London. As an advanced clinical practitioner, you will provide patient-centred care, working autonomously within the Acute Oncology Service (AOS) to diagnose and formulate management plans.

You will ensure patients with metastatic malignancy of unknown origin have access to rapid expert oncology input, avoiding unnecessary investigations.

The post holder will monitor the impact of the AOS, using key metrics such as length of stay, and work with the Lead Acute Oncology Clinician to ensure the service meets quality standards and safety measures.

Main Responsibilities
  • Clinical Duties:
    • Work autonomously as an advanced practitioner within acute oncology
    • Participate in multidisciplinary clinics, ward rounds, patient reviews, and multidisciplinary team meetings
    • Undertake a variety of clinical skills and provide treatment/advice according to acute oncology guidelines and scope of practice
    • Utilise scope of practice to undertake Non-Medical Prescribing role and provide advice on medicine management issues associated with the patient specialty group
    • Lead in the development and updating of referral guidelines and policies for the service
    • Manage and escalate medical emergencies appropriately
    • Manage medical complexity
    • Complete episodes of care which may include referral for further assessment, treatment, and care appropriately
    • Work towards safe and timely discharge and/or transfer of care of patients from or between hospitals and services

  • Requirements:
    • Minimum of 5 years post-registration experience at a senior X level (Band 7 or above) in cancer or acute care

    Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is estimated to be around £53,755-£60,504 per annum pro rata including HCA. Kings College Hospital offers a range of benefits, including opportunities for professional development, training, and education.
