About the Role
The National Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a highly skilled Senior Finance Manager to join their team. As a Senior Finance Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of finance professionals to provide financial services to the business or a specific area of the business.
Main Responsibilities
- Influencing strategic direction in the supported area.
- Influencing strategy of the finance function.
- Participating in major contract negotiations.
- Providing timely, accurate and insightful financial analysis and management information to link financial performance with business activity.
- Holding operational management in the supported area accountable for financial performance, ensuring all targets are met.
- Understanding the cost / revenue drivers in the supported area and providing insight to non-financial management.
- Challenging current ways of working, driving long term efficiencies / cost savings / revenue increases wherever possible.
- Leading the financial planning activity in the supported area across multiple planning horizons (in year, project lifetime. rolling annual, 5 years and 10 years).
- Analysing business opportunities and providing options and scenarios to support business decisions.
- Preparing robust business cases, in collaboration with the operation management team, in advance of submission to internal investment or customer committees.
- Leading and developing a team providing cost centre / profit centre / project accounting services to the supported area.
- Supporting operational management to identify and mitigate / realise risk / opportunities.
- Defining and delivering continuous improvement activities in the function and the supported area.
- Ensuring the supported area complies with all financial policies and procedures.
- Lead any audit activity relevant to the supported area.
- Set costing rates relevant to the supported area / contract.
