Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Apprentice Mechanical Technician to join our team at Proftech Talent. As an Apprentice Mechanical Technician, you will be responsible for performing mechanical maintenance tasks, responding to breakdowns, and assisting in the analysis of equipment failures.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily/Weekly/Monthly Inspections and Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections of equipment and machinery to identify potential issues and perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns.
- Respond to Breakdowns: Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and perform repairs or maintenance tasks as needed.
- Report Parts Used: Maintain accurate records of parts used from stock to ensure accurate inventory levels.
- Assist in Analysis and Corrective Actions: Assist in the analysis of equipment failures and suggest corrective actions to prevent future issues.
- Modifications and Installations: Perform modifications to plant equipment and assist in the installation of new equipment.
- Training and Development: Assist in the training of apprentices and contribute to the development of the team.
Requirements
- C+G Part 3 or ONC/IHNC: Hold a recognized qualification in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- Time Served: Have completed an apprenticeship or have relevant work experience in a mechanical maintenance role.
- Competency in Hydraulic and Pneumatic Drawings: Have a good understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic drawings and fault-finding techniques.
- Experience with Motors and Drives: Have experience with motors and drives, including gear motors, reduction gearboxes, and overhead cranes.
- Ability to Read Engineering Drawings: Be able to read and understand engineering drawings.
Desirable Qualifications
- Previous Foundry Experience: Have experience working in a foundry environment.
- Forklift Truck and Access Equipment Training: Hold a valid forklift truck and access equipment training certificate.
- Ability to Use Lathe, Milling Machine, and Grinders: Be able to use a lathe, milling machine, and grinders.
