This exciting opportunity involves working as an Accountant in a well-established organisation based in Guildford. You will report to the Financial Accountant and the Finance Director.

The role is initially office-based, with a possibility of a hybrid option after probation, offering a better work-life balance.

Main Responsibilities:
  • You will prepare and process prepayments and accruals as part of month-end procedures.
  • Maintaining and updating the fixed asset register is crucial for accurate records of company assets.
  • Assistance in preparation and posting of month-end journals is required.
  • You will prepare and assist with VAT returns, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Supporting Work in Progress (WIP) and debt reviews, identifying outstanding issues and resolving them, is a key responsibility.
  • Providing support during the annual audit process, liaising with auditors and preparing relevant documentation, is essential.
  • You will manage and maintain nominal ledger and other financial registers.
  • Processing supplier invoices, employee expenses, and ensuring proper coding and approvals is necessary.
  • Assisting with daily bank reconciliations and ensuring discrepancies are investigated and resolved in a timely manner is required.
  • You will process regular supplier payment runs and handle ad-hoc payments as needed.
  • Addressing finance-related queries from internal and external stakeholders in a professional and timely manner is a critical task.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Apart from being part-qualified, you should have a strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
  • At least 2-3 years experience in a busy finance department is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook is mandatory.
  • Xero accounting software experience is desirable.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy is required.
  • You should have strong communication skills and be able to work collaboratively with team members and other departments.
  • A good telephone manner and organisational skills are necessary.
  • A proactive and enthusiastic approach to work is expected.

Expected Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum
