Electrical Design Manager/Product Development Manager

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the Electrical Engineering Sub-Team and ensuring the delivery of innovative solutions to our customers. Your expertise in electrical engineering principles will be crucial in developing and implementing cutting-edge technology in high-speed automation equipment solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage the activities of the Electrical Engineering Sub-Team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions to our customers.
  2. Coordinate the work schedules of team members, including resource planning and delegating tasks.
  3. Encourage personal development and ensure results are achieved, including higher quality of output for customers.
  4. Ensure team members are actively contributing to the global team throughout the life cycle of products, ensuring optimum levels of service and support are achieved.
  5. Provide support and guidance to the greater team in the absence of the Group R&D Manager.
  6. Work closely with all departments to ensure seamless transition of new designs through documentation, prototyping, timely production, and testing.
  7. Manage design projects, ensuring all milestones are met as per the schedule.
  8. Prepare and coordinate accurate resource, time, and cost summaries for projects on a weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc basis as required.
  9. Develop electrical designs for primary products and new projects in collaboration with other departments.
  10. Develop designs of electrics and if required, electronics of a machine or system.
  11. Assist in the development of PLC and PC programs for systems or machines that require them.
  12. Liaise with customers and Technical Support to find solutions to electrical problems of machines and/or systems and report the findings to the team.
  13. Develop test procedures for machinery designed.
  14. Document to the required level for UKCA and CE compliance, the electrics of a machine developed.
  15. Update personal technical and industry knowledge, as necessary.
  16. Travel to customer sites to support and develop equipment and solutions.
  17. Commission first of series machines that you are directly responsible for designing.
  18. Conform to international standards for machinery and turnkey systems.
  19. Provide effective coaching and line management, which includes conducting regular one-to-one reviews and annual appraisals.
  20. Strictly follow customer specifications and regulations to design the required control systems and machines.
  21. Develop and specify Standard equipment which is suitable to reduce design lead times.
Managerial Responsibilities:
  1. Supervise and manage approximately 6-7 electrical engineers both UK based and abroad.
  2. Ensure the budget is met as a minimum or below.
  3. Manage design costs, time schedules, and design outcome.
