About the Role

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Social Worker to join our team at Bury Council. As a key member of our Adults Services team, you will be responsible for overseeing social work practice and driving the design and delivery of policy and practice for our local community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee social work practice within Adults Services and ensure that high-quality services are delivered to vulnerable adults.
  • Drive the design and delivery of policy and practice for our local community, working closely with stakeholders and partners to achieve this goal.
  • Manage a team of social workers, providing guidance, support, and leadership to ensure that they are equipped to deliver excellent services.
  • Provide expertise, leadership, and influence at a senior level, championing the social work profession and promoting best practice.
  • Take responsibility for quality assurance of all adult health functions across the department, ensuring that services are delivered to the highest standards.
  • Champion the social work profession through strategic partnerships and national links with the Chief Social Worker.

Requirements:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Social Work or a related field.
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the competency framework.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders and partners.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
