Electrical and Instrumentation Discipline Manager

Wood Digital Consulting is seeking an experienced Electrical and Instrumentation Discipline Manager to join our EMEA Systems Integration business. This is a new position as part of our continued growth plans.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of Discipline Team Leads and their direct reports to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of the Electrical and Instrument department. The overall size of the department is expected to be 30+ Engineers / Designers of varying levels.

Key responsibilities include functional management and development of discipline engineering resources, governance of discipline practices and procedures, and acting as a discipline subject matter expert to support and drive engineering excellence across the wider organization.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in engineering delivery in one or more relevant industry sectors, expert-level experience and understanding of discipline engineering tools and processes, and a broad understanding of the business drivers for relevant industry sector clients.

They will also possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to anticipate and balance the needs of multiple stakeholders, and experience in developing talent using coaching, mentoring, and formal performance processes.

The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills, able to work effectively across a diverse multicultural community, and possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work cross-functionally and create trust with seniors and peer groups.

They will also be an insightful coach, able to skilfully deliver developmental feedback, and have the ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.

The role is a hybrid position that can be based anywhere in the UK, with mobility and travel to customer sites and face-to-face meetings with colleagues expected.

Applicants must be able to pass the HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.

Requirements:

  • ISCED Level 6 / Bachelors (minimum) or Level 7 / Masters (preferred) degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent professional experience
  • Chartership with a relevant professional body / Professional Engineer License or equivalent is an advantage
