Job Overview
Bloomberg L.P. is seeking an experienced Leader in API Engineering and Governance to lead our API engineering and governance efforts. About the Role
The Leader in API Engineering and Governance will be responsible for developing and executing the API engineering and governance strategy and roadmap, leading the API engineering and governance team, and ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives. Key responsibilities include defining and implementing API standards, best practices, and processes, collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize API development and integration opportunities, and monitoring and measuring API performance and usage. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of API design and development best practices, experience with API governance frameworks and processes, and excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the API engineering and governance strategy and roadmap
- Lead the API engineering and governance team and ensure alignment with company goals and objectives
- Define and implement API standards, best practices, and processes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize API development and integration opportunities
- Monitor and measure API performance and usage
- Continuously improve the API engineering and governance program through innovation and process optimization

Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering and API development
- 3+ years in a leadership role managing globally distributed teams and influencing third-party technology strategy
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or similar field of study
- Strong understanding of API design and development best practices
- Experience with API governance frameworks and processes
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
