About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled FOI and Access to Health Records Officer to join our team at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing requests for medical records in line with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and Health Records Act (HRA) 1990.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage FOI requests from receipt to completion, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
  • Process requests for medical records, applying the principles of data protection and the laws around access to standard requests.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
  • Discern difficult requests involving safeguarding matters and seek advice on redaction and disclosure as necessary.
  • Work in an organized manner, checking for completeness and accuracy of documents.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality at all times, taking care not to divulge personal information to unauthorized individuals.

Requirements

  • See supporting documents for essential qualifications, experience, and knowledge.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to undertake complicated conversations with patients and relatives.
  • Familiarity with data protection principles and laws around access to standard requests.
