About the Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Transportation Practice Director to join our team at the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS). As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our transportation practice.

  • You will have a track record of delivering complex projects and programs, with a strong focus on commercial management and contract negotiation.
  • You will be responsible for developing and implementing commercial strategies to maximise revenue and cash flow, while balancing risk and opportunity.
  • You will provide expert advice on contract management and change control, drawing on your experience with common Forms of Contract, such as NEC & NEC PSC.
  • You will interpret contract programmes and schedules to identify associated risks and utilise commercial levers to mitigate these risks.
  • You will mentor and manage junior team members, promoting visibility across offices and sites.
  • You will manage multiple stakeholders within project and business deadlines.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a commercial management role, preferably in the transportation sector.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex projects and programs, with a strong focus on commercial management and contract negotiation.
  • Expertise in contract management and change control, with experience across common Forms of Contract, particularly NEC & NEC PSC.
  • Excellent reasoning skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and contractual correspondence.
  • Experience of leading and motivating a team in a large-scale business/project environment.

Salary: £70,000 - £100,000 per annum
