Senior Adoption Practitioner

Thurrock Council is seeking an experienced Adoption Senior Practitioner to join their team. This permanent role offers a great opportunity to work in a supportive environment with a stable management team and manageable caseloads.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting less experienced team members, as well as undertaking various tasks such as the recruitment and assessment of prospective adopters, family finding for children with a plan for adoption, and supporting birth parents.
The role also involves identifying and commissioning appropriate post-order support services, supporting adopted adults to access their birth records, and developing partnership working with other local authorities and adoption agencies.

Key responsibilities include:
- Recruitment and assessment of prospective adopters
- Family finding for children with a plan for adoption
- Supporting birth parents
- Undertaking assessment of need for post-adoption and SGO cases
- Identifying and commissioning post-order support services
- Supporting adopted adults to access their birth records
- Non-agency and step-parent adoption assessments and reports to court
- Developing partnership working with other local authorities and adoption agencies
