Senior VAT Analyst, European VAT Compliance & Controllership Team (VAT C&C)

Job Summary
Amazon's diverse online business requires VAT filings in a number of jurisdictions across Europe, creating specific VAT compliance obligations for third-party sellers. We are seeking a skilled Senior VAT Analyst to join our European VAT Compliance & Controllership team, located primarily in London and Bratislava.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process improvement and automation of VAT compliance and controllership teams
  • Automate manual deep dives through data extraction and validation tasks
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to deliver impactful findings in various areas
  • Collect requirements from end-users and customers to create automation strategies
  • Liaise with key business partners and senior management to align priorities and define best-in-class processes

A Day in the Life
As a Senior VAT Analyst, you will analyze processes and drive improvements through scalable automation using SQL and other analytical tools. The successful candidate will be highly data-centric, with good exposure in business analysis, data analytics, and automation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications
  • 2+ years of experience in data mining, Python programming, or computer programming
  • 2+ years of leading a team in a Finance/Tax/Corporate environment
  • Proficiency in Python, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Fluent in English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven record of operational excellence and defect reduction
  • Strong stakeholder management with ability to seek out feedback and oversee opportunities for automation
  • High degree of organization and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Proficiency in SQL
  • A proven track record of being an innovative leader, with the ability to identify opportunities and influence organizations to gain support and overcome resistance with data and persuasion
