Job Title: Compliance Officer - Health, Safety, and Environment

We seek a proactive Compliance Officer to drive our Integrated Management System (IMS) forward by ensuring adherence to ISO45001, ISO14001, and ISO50001 standards.

This challenging role entails conducting site visits, investigating incidents, and overseeing environmental and energy reporting compliance. Our ideal candidate will harmoniously integrate these management systems across various departments and depots, instilling a culture of safety, sustainability, and environmental accountability.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain high standards of compliance with ISO45001 Health and Safety regulations, continually assessing and improving processes to guarantee optimal results.
  2. Ensure seamless integration of ISO14001 Environmental Management Systems, minimising risks and fostering a culture of sustainability.
  3. Swiftly respond to environmental incidents, thoroughly documenting incident reports and implementing corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  4. Regularly conduct Energy Management Audits, providing actionable recommendations to optimise energy consumption and contribute to the company's carbon footprint reduction goals.
  5. Guarantee adherence to ISO50001 standards, engaging actively in sustainability initiatives and advocating for efficient energy use across the entire organisation.
  6. Evaluate the effectiveness of health and safety policies through on-site audits, guaranteeing alignment with ISO45001 standards.
  7. Conduct routine and comprehensive depot audits, identifying potential hazards and suggesting practical solutions.
  8. Participate in accident and near-miss investigations, distilling key insights to inform process improvements and prevent recurrences.
  9. Develop and distribute insightful reports on audit findings, collaborating with relevant teams to ensure prompt implementation of corrective actions.
  10. Streamline energy data collection and management for Streamline Energy and Carbon Reports, collaborating with external partners to ensure timely submissions.
  11. Closely oversee ESOS compliance, ensuring timely completion to avoid potential penalties.
  12. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to foster a safety-first ethos, ensuring that all employees adhere to established health and safety guidelines.
  13. Deliver actionable feedback and recommendations based on audit results and incident reports, contributing to organisational excellence.
Person Specification:
  • Deep knowledge of ISO45001, ISO14001, and ISO50001 standards.
  • Proven experience in auditing Health, Safety, Environmental, and Energy Management, including risk assessments and compliance evaluations.
  • Holding L3 Environmental EMS Qualification demonstrates a strong grasp of environmental management principles.
  • L3 Sustainability EnMS Qualification indicates a solid understanding of energy management and sustainability best practices.
  • L3 Health and Safety Qualification enhances one's ability to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Superb analytical, documentation, and reporting skills are essential.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities are vital for successful collaboration and training initiatives.
  • A strong motivation to learn and adapt is crucial.
  • Excellent phone etiquette is expected.
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team is necessary.
  • Self-motivation and effective time management skills are a must.
  • Clear and efficient communication with customers and colleagues at all levels is required.
  • Fluency in Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Word and Excel.
Salary Range:

£42,500 per annum.

East Anglia, Norfolk.

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday – 8:00am to 6.00pm, with an unpaid lunch break of half an hour.
