Job Title: Urology Consultant

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Urology Consultant to join our team at the Isle of Wight NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality diagnostic, treatment, and management of adult patients with urological disorders and diseases.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality diagnostic, treatment, and management of adult patients with urological disorders and diseases in line with clinical protocols.
  • Ensure prompt attendance at agreed Direct Clinical Care Programmed Activities.
  • Ensure patients are involved in decisions about their care and to respond to their views.
  • Contribute to the team working within the department and promote a culture of collaborative working with colleagues across the Partnership to optimise patient safety.
  • Ensure clinical guidelines and protocols are adhered to by junior medical staff and updated on a regular basis.
  • Keep fully informed about best practice in the specialty/sub-specialty areas and ensure implications for practice changes are discussed with the Clinical Director.
  • Role model good practice for infection control to all members of the multidisciplinary team.

Requirements:

  • MBBS or equivalent.
  • Membership with the relevant Royal College.
  • GMC registration and licence to practice.
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Urology via a. CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview), b. CESR or c. European Community rights.

Desirable:

Experience of teaching and training undergraduates, post graduates and junior medical staff.Evidence of participation in clinical audit relevant to specialty.Knowledge and understanding of current NHS issues.Ability to develop services.Energy and enthusiasm and the ability to work under pressure.An enquiring and critical approach to work.Caring attitude to patients.Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, relatives, GPs, nurses and other staff and agencies.Commitment to continuing medical education and professional development.
