Quantity Surveyor

Fawkes & Reece is seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial, Estimating and Buying team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for delivering cost control and financial reporting duties across all aspects of construction work undertaken by the Company.
Key Responsibilities- Attend design meetings to advise on cost implications and ensure accurate budgeting.
- Collaborate with the development team to identify areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Conduct thorough checks on contract drawings to prevent errors and omissions.
- Assist in the preparation of tender lists and procurement programmes.
- Distribute design information packages and tender drawings, ensuring all necessary checks are completed.
- Prepare construction cost analysis, including quotations and tender enquiry results.
- Arrange and adjudicate budget settlement meetings with the Commercial team.
- Prepare stage payment schedules to facilitate financing of the works.
- Carry out pre-order meetings to finalize tender sums and stage payment schedules.
- Place subcontractor orders, including interviews and reference checks.
- Issue variation orders and provide cost advice on major variations.
- Check and reconcile all costs posted to each contract, including subcontract works, variation orders, and site instructions.
- Arrange subcontractor payments and agree final accounts, ensuring all works are completed within budget.
- Previous experience managing budgets on multiple volume housing developments from inception to completion.
- Thorough understanding of Surveying and Estimating, with specific knowledge of preparing realistic construction budgets.
- Good understanding of strategic objectives and targeting financial return, with the ability to manipulate complex financial models.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office packages, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Working knowledge of procure to pay/cost reporting and document storage systems, such as COINS or Agresso.
- Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.
