About the Role
As a key member of our maintenance team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our rail network. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain, inspect, and repair the land alongside the track network, including vegetation management, drainage, and ancillary structures.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate a team of operatives to deliver safe and efficient work
- Specialize in a range of disciplines, including off-track maintenance and repair
- Work outdoors in all conditions, at all times of the year, day or night
- Transport equipment and materials across challenging terrain
- Ensure compliance with strict safety standards and procedures
- Develop and maintain technical and non-technical skills through continuous learning and training
Requirements
- Leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and direct a team
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear instructions
- Technical skills, including inspection, faulting, maintenance, and renewal techniques
- Safety-focused, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks
- Problem-solving skills, with the ability to find safe and effective solutions
- Willingness to learn and develop skills relevant to the discipline
- Relevant qualification, such as an NVQ Level 1 or 2, or equivalent experience
Working Conditions
- Shift patterns, including days, nights, and weekends
- Outdoor working, in all weather conditions
- Safe working practices, including drug and alcohol testing and medical assessments
- Driving license (category B) required for Network Rail vehicles
- 60-minute commute time from the location
