Job Title: Exam Invigilation Assistants
Job Summary:
Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College is seeking committed and enthusiastic individuals to join our Exams team as Exam Invigilation Assistants. As an Exam Invigilation Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth conduct of examinations.
Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the Examinations Officer, carry out invigilation duties in accordance with official JCQ and College regulations.
- Supervise candidates whilst under exam conditions, maintaining a vigilant and silent presence.
- Ensure candidates are kept under close invigilation throughout the examination and receive no assistance from any person, books, notes, or other sources.
- Perform various administration duties to ensure the requirements of JCQ, the exam board, and the College are fully met.
- Accompany students outside the examination room, supervising over lunch periods or during comfort breaks.
- Deal with any emergency situations while maintaining the integrity of the examination conditions.
- Perform other duties commensurate with the post of an invigilator, as required.
Requirements:
- Good listening and observation skills.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to carry out predetermined instructions.
- Ability to communicate clearly and accurately with candidates and members of staff.
- Ability to deal calmly and reassuringly with candidates during examinations.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Understanding of the significance of external examinations at the College.
- Physical fitness, as invigilators are required to remain standing for periods of up to 2.5 hours.
Working Conditions:
As a casual worker, you will be under no obligation to undertake any work that may be offered to you. The Exams Officer will liaise with you to determine your availability and dates and times of work will be agreed prior to the examination period each year.
Salary and Benefits:
You will be paid on point 3 on the Support Staff pay scale, which is currently £11.57 per hour. An enhanced DBS check is carried out on all staff, and as a casual post, we require Invigilators to sign up to the DBS Update Service and maintain this subscription annually.
