Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quality Management Specialist to join our team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for coordinating the Governance process, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation body requirements, and contributing to the effective development and implementation of our quality management system.

Main Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the Governance process, including Health and Safety, Risk Management, and Quality Management activities
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation body requirements, including UKAS and HTA
  • Contribute to the effective development and implementation of our quality management system
  • Lead on the coordination of external assessment visits from regulatory and accreditation bodies
  • Coordinate the completion of any resulting improvement actions
  • Ensure that processes needed for delivery of the quality management system are established, implemented, and maintained
  • Lead on ensuring that the quality management system is functioning effectively within the department
  • Support laboratory management teams in maintaining robust quality systems and processes
  • Ensure that nonconformities of all types are managed effectively within the department
  • Ensure that suitable mechanisms are in place to collate user needs and requirements
  • Produce quality reports on the department's performance in relation to the Quality Management system

Our department provides a range of services, including Histopathology, Non-Gynae Cytology, Andrology, Muscle, Nerve, Immunohistochemistry, Molecular, and Mortuary services. We are a well-equipped and innovative department, striving for high-quality staff and processes. As a training hospital, we serve to expand the knowledge and skills of all staff, and we encourage further development and involvement.

Person Specification
  • Essential qualifications: Biomedical Sciences (or equivalent) Masters degree (MSc), HCPC Registered healthcare scientist
  • Desirable qualifications: Management qualification, Quality Management and/or Service Improvement qualification
  • Essential skills: Specialist knowledge of Quality Management and Clinical Governance, Specialist knowledge of regulatory and accreditation body requirements relating to clinical laboratory services, Advanced keyboard skills and attention to detail
  • Desirable skills: Evidence of delivering training in quality management systems and processes
  • Essential experience: Extensive experience within the clinical laboratory setting, Successful working as a member of a team, Supervisory or management experience
  • Desirable experience: Experience of leading Quality Management and/or governance activities, Experience of risk management activities, including Health and Safety aspects, Experience of working within a formal managerial/leadership role
