Job Title: Asset Database Administrator

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to join our team at Adecco UK LTD. As a key member of our Digital Policing Directorate, you will be responsible for providing expert guidance on database creation, monitoring, and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead by example and adhere to the Police Code of Ethics, ensuring that our values and behavioural expectations are clearly understood and considered in all decision-making and actions.
  2. Provide analysis and direction for Digital Policing support teams on effective database monitoring, management, and optimisation, and assist with the investigation of problems, identifying root causes and developing automated solutions.
  3. Create and maintain up-to-date records of database utilisation and provide detailed documentation of database configurations to drive down capital and expenditure costs.
  4. Provide expert advice to all members of the Digital Policing Directorate and suppliers regarding database software upgrades and coordinate implementation activities.
  5. Develop and maintain database and testing back-up and recovery plans and capacity management plans to ensure data security and cyber readiness.
  6. Ensure that Force data is preserved from accidental or malicious loss by maintaining and regularly testing appropriate backups and Disaster recovery plans.
  7. Provide expert input and knowledge on using data to support Business Intelligence and modern Data Analytics to support policing and business activities.

Requirements:

  • Experience of managing and maintaining a large SQL database estate, ensuring High Availability using Availability Groups and SQL clustering.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing and ETL processes, as well as experience using SSAS, SSIS, SSRS, and PowerShell.
  • Desirable: experience with migrating on-premise SQL Server into Azure.
