Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner

Devon Local Maternity & Neonatal System is seeking an experienced registered midwife to lead perinatal quality surveillance and transformation efforts. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with clinicians, commissioning colleagues, and stakeholders to ensure strong leadership around safety for perinatal services and the implementation of key national perinatal transformation, quality, and safety strategies.
Main Duties
The role will oversee and assure the implementation of the Perinatal Quality Surveillance Model and the recommendations of the Ockenden Report. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of national policy for Maternity & Neonatal services, including Better Births, the NHS Long Term Plan, and the Perinatal Quality Surveillance Model.
Person Specification
Essential
- Extensive knowledge of specialist areas, acquired through postgraduate diploma or equivalent experience or training, plus further specialist knowledge or experience to master's level equivalent.
- Understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciation of the implications of this on engagement.
- Appreciation of the relationship between provider organisations, NHS England and Improvement, and individual care organisations.
- Registered Professional Midwife with confirmed entry on specialist register NMC.
- Demonstrable work experience of professional clinical experience at a senior level in maternity services.
- Demonstratable experience of service improvement and transformation, achieving cultural change to improve service quality.
- Experience in leading the development, delivery, and implementation of service redesign plans.
- Advanced and in-depth knowledge of current developments/issues in obstetrics and gynaecology which may influence the service.
- Demonstrate capability to plan over short, medium, and long-term timeframes and adjust plans and resource requirements accordingly.
- Knowledge of human factors within healthcare.
- Knowledge/experience of quality improvement methodology.
- Significant experience of co-ordinating projects in highly complex and challenging environments.
- Experience of monitoring budgets and business planning processes.
- Evidence of continued professional development.
- Ability to use informed persuasion to influence and negotiate on difficult and controversial issues including performance and change.
- Evidence of success in efficient and effective project and programme management.
- Skills for nurturing key relationships and maintaining networks.
