At D-Orbit, we are pioneering the future of space logistics and transportation. As a leading company in this field, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Spacecraft Systems Development Engineer to join our UK systems engineering team.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our growing team and contribute to the development of innovative spacecraft systems. You will work closely with other engineers to design and develop complex spacecraft systems, ensuring they meet the required specifications and standards.

Your primary objective will be to lead the development of spacecraft systems, including customization of flight-qualified platforms and design of new advanced missions. You will also be responsible for ensuring the safety and reliability of the spacecraft systems, from preliminary design to final requirements compliance assessment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the technical development of critical subsystems/mission phases
  • Contribute to the development of systems architecture and subsystems design
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team to design and develop spacecraft systems
  • Budgeting and financial management of systems and subsystems
  • Coordinate the integration of different subsystems
  • Capture and manage stakeholder/mission/project requirements
  • Interface with and support AIV team and related activities
  • Support the definition of test plans, procedures, and setup
  • Authoring of Technical Documents
Requirements

We are looking for a highly experienced and skilled engineer who possesses:

  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering principles and systems-level knowledge of all spacecraft subsystems
  • Knowledge of data busses architectures
  • High level of work autonomy, strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills, particularly in remote-working environments
  • Proactive attitude and ability to work in a team
  • Experience in the use of Matlab and Python
  • Experience in requirements configuration management tools, e.g. DOORS / Jama
  • Basic knowledge of software development and configuration management, e.g. GIT or Bitbucket
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Nice-to-have Skills

We welcome applicants who possess the following additional skills:

  • Knowledge of Mission analysis tool (GMAT/orekit)
  • Working experience in space transportation and servicing applications
  • Knowledge of Linux
  • Knowledge of ECSS/NASA standards
Education

A university degree in Aerospace/Space Engineering is preferred but not essential.

Salary and Benefits
