About the Role

JaK Consultancy is seeking a motivated and forward-thinking leader to join our team as our new Head of Sustainability and Environment. As the head of our Sustainability & Environmental team, you will play a key role in giving advice, creating strategies, and helping us win new projects.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a commercial workplace design company based in London, in a super cool and creative studio.

Key Responsibilities:


  1. Provide a high-quality, accessible, and professional experience with the company, focusing on sustainability and environmental care.
  2. Lead effectively, fostering strong relationships with team members and external partners, and engaging with everyone in a positive way.
  3. Achieve our financial goals by meeting and, where possible, exceeding the companies targets, helping us win new projects and keep existing clients.
  4. Set and guide the direction of the Environmental and Sustainability strategy.
  5. Promote a positive culture of environmental and sustainability awareness across the organization.
  6. Get support from management and leadership to make sustainability a priority in the business.
  7. Position the company as a leader in sustainability, environmental responsibility, and social purpose.
  8. Align the company's business goals with the team's goals and overall strategy.
  9. Provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring to the team.
  10. Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs) for the team and external partners.
  11. Make sure that sustainability and environmental practices are built into every part of the company's Business System and put into action completely.
  12. Provide a yearly update to the Leadership team on sustainability efforts to help shape the company's annual report.
  13. Spot new trends in sustainability and recommend creative ways to improve the company's environmental efforts.
  14. Lead the use of new technologies and systems that help achieve sustainability goals.
  15. Promote and support the energy management system certified under ISO 50001.
  16. Make sure the organization follows environmental laws and rules at all levels—local, national, and international.
  17. Provide resources and put measures in place to control and reduce any identified environmental risks.
  18. Keep up with new environmental laws and standards, and ensure the organization adjusts quickly when these change.
  19. Actively support and promote the organization's environmental management system, which is certified under ISO 14001.
  20. Supervise the companies teams to make sure they reach sustainability and environmental goals.
  21. Connect with potential clients to share the companies journey in sustainability and the environment. This helps others understand our services and perspectives.
  22. Become part of a project team for pitches and presentations whenever needed to help win new projects or keep existing ones.
  23. You will need to travel to different places and the companies different offices once a month or every other month.
  24. You will also need to work in areas where safety rules and protective gear are necessary.

Requirements:


  1. Experience with ISO Management Systems: Familiar with ISO 14001, 9001, 50001, and 45001, preferably in a similar industry.
  2. Team Leadership: Strong skills in leading and managing a team.
  3. Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment where challenges are met with solutions.
  4. Positive Attitude: Energetic, driven, and proactive; shows initiative.
  5. Communication Skills: Great at talking and working with others.
  6. Time Management: Can effectively organize time and resources to achieve team and project goals.
  7. Commitment to Learning: Dedicated to personal growth and ongoing development.
  8. Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  9. Regulatory Knowledge: Good understanding of relevant laws, standards, and best practices.
  10. Team Collaboration: Thrive in a team-oriented environment.
  11. Sustainability Experience: Background in sustainability, environmental management, or a related area.
  12. Demonstrate a flexible approach to work, including willingness to travel and work long hours if necessary.
  13. Commitment to and demonstration of the Corporate Values: Design-led, Responsible, Intelligent, Collaborative.

Qualifications:


  1. Having relevant certifications like BREEAM Accredited Professional, ISO 14001 Auditor, or Certified Sustainability Professional is a plus.
  2. A bachelor's degree or equivalent in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related subject is required.
