About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical/Multi Skilled Fitter to join our team at the Imerys British Lithium Pilot Plant. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for carrying out planned, scheduled routine and reactive maintenance of fixed plant and associated systems.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Fault Finding and Rectification: Identify and rectify faults in processing fixed plant and associated systems.
  • Engineering Support: Provide engineering support for other maintenance and installation activities.
  • Installation and Modification: Install new equipment and process modifications as required.
  • Spares Management: Order and manage site spares.
  • Health and Safety: Adhere to health and safety standards and ensure all work areas are clean and free from hazards.
  • Data Collection: Collect and record data as required.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Sound Understanding: A sound understanding of mechanical and electrical maintenance, including fixed processing plant.
  • NVQ Level 3: An NVQ level 3 or equivalent in mechanical engineering.
  • Fault Finding and Resolution: The ability to fault find and resolve mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Communication Skills: Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • IT Skills: A good level of IT skills.
  • Driving License: A valid driving license.

About Us:

Imerys British Lithium is a joint venture between Imerys S.A. and Lithium Assets Ltd., developing a world-class micaceous lithium resource in Cornwall. We have developed unique, patented technology for the sustainable recovery of battery-grade lithium carbonate from micaceous granite, with the goal of building the world's first integrated lithium mine, beneficiation plant, and refinery producing 20,000tpa of lithium carbonate – enough to support production in the UK of 350,000 electric vehicles per year.

We operate a state-of-the-art pilot plant, built to develop our unique LiMica-SepTM and Li-SepTM technologies for the sustainable extraction of lithium from micaceous granite. Our capabilities at the facility involve a wide range of process technologies, such as mineral beneficiation, pyrometallurgy, hydrometallurgy, precipitation, crystallisation, and ion exchange, at both the laboratory and industrial scales.

We are a dynamic and innovative company, and this role is instrumental in the delivery of our plan to develop a full-scale integrated open-pit mine, concentrator, and refinery to produce battery-grade lithium for the growing electric vehicle industry in the UK and Europe. Validation of our process technology is underway, and significant capital expenditure decisions are being made, such as the design of the 2 Mtpa / 20 ktpa commercial-scale plant with very challenging schedules. This role therefore carries a significant responsibility of technical de-risking and cost optimisation. This requires a team of metallurgists and engineers with a high level of technical expertise, as well as well-developed communication skills and a keen understanding of business priorities and stakeholder needs.
