Glen Dimplex Heating & Ventilation is a leading provider of innovative heating and ventilation solutions. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Product, Technical to join our team.
Main Responsibilities- Lead the delivery of new domestic portable heating and air quality appliances, working closely with the Portables Business Unit to create sustainable, innovative, and value customer propositions.
- Develop and implement the product roadmap, collaborating with procurement to select and manage third-party suppliers for design, development, validation, certification, and manufacture.
- Work with external suppliers to design, develop, certify, and manufacture products, overcoming technical challenges and issues to meet project targets.
- Lead the selection and management of OEM and ODM suppliers, ensuring customized mechanical aspects of product design meet company requirements.
- Facilitate engineering change requests and support supplier change control and release management.
- Resolve quality or manufacturing challenges, working closely with procurement, quality, and the Portable BU Quality and Audit Manager.
- Strong understanding of core design principles in relevant technology and competence centre fields.
- Background in product design, quality approval, and certification in a technical/engineering/manufacturing discipline.
- Experience of working in a format NPI stage and gate process.
- Awareness of effective planning and implementation of design activity.
- Strong analytical and critical reasoning skills, problem-solving, and root cause analysis.
- Team player with excellent verbal and written communication and networking skills.
- Manufacturing processes of various materials, including metals, plastics, and fabric.
- Product testing and certification (EMC, safety, environmental, vibration, durability, software validation).
- DFMEA and consideration of Design for Quality, Design for Manufacture, and Design for Service in the development of new products.
- Tolerance analysis and GD&T.
