Immunisation Nurse/Midwife Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Immunisation Nurse/Midwife to join our team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This is a 12-month fixed-term position to cover maternity leave.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the immunisation maternity service, providing clinical expertise to pregnant women, and supporting staff, women, and their families. Key duties include:

  1. Working in partnership with clients, midwives, GPs, obstetricians, and other agencies to ensure pregnant women receive seasonal influenza, pertussis, and Covid-19 vaccinations.
  2. Leading and managing the maternity immunisation service, ensuring 7-day-a-week cover.
  3. Managing Band 5 Nurses and Band 3 support workers within the immunisation service.
Key Responsibilities

The Immunisation Nurse/Midwife will:

  1. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for pregnant women regarding vaccination options in accordance with Trust policies and guidelines.
  2. Strive for continuity of care and informed client choice within service limitations.
  3. Facilitate learning of immunisation and vaccination skills through supervision, teaching, and support.
  4. Actively promote and encourage a healthy lifestyle, advising and arranging vaccination support for women as required.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will be a Registered Nurse or Midwife with trained immunisation experience, a degree or diploma in nursing or midwifery, and evidence of continued professional development. They should also have demonstrable experience in teaching and assessing immunisation, the ability to offer informed choice on immunisation in pregnancy, and professional development management skills.

Contract Details

This is a fixed-term contract for 12 months, with flexible working and compressed hours available.
