Job Description

CHEP is a global leader in the supply chain and logistics industry, with a presence in over 55 countries and a team of 11,000 employees. As a Yard and Service Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of our yard and service functions, driving business growth and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety and Security: Ensure a safe working environment for employees, contractors, and visitors, and maintain site security through regular checks and monitoring.
  • Stock Management: Optimize stock levels, manage inventory, and ensure accurate reporting of stock movements and transactions.
  • Labour Management: Manage labour costs, optimize attendance, and minimize overtime, while ensuring efficient use of labour resources.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement, implement changes, and drive continuous improvement within the yard and service department.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service, manage customer requests, and ensure issues are resolved efficiently and effectively.
  • Reporting and Compliance: Manage reporting of plant performance, ensure compliance with ISO 9001 standards, and support audits and certifications.
  • Subcontractor Management: Organize and control contractors in the yard and service areas, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Best Practice Promotion: Promote lean, 5S, and teamwork principles, and apply best practices from the network to drive improvement.
Requirements
  • 2-3 years supervisory experience in a high-volume manufacturing operations environment.
  • English and Maths qualifications.
  • Proven skills and capabilities in leadership, communication, people management, and problem-solving.
  • IOSH qualification.
  • FLT license desirable.
  • Six-Sigma Green/Black Belt certification desirable.
  • Experience of leading and achieving results in a target-driven high-volume manufacturing/transport environment.
  • Experience of Lean manufacturing and process control techniques.
  • PC literate, particularly strong Excel and SAP skills.
Preferred Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. 3-5 years of work experience in a similar role.
