Software Development Engineer Intern

Amazon Aurora is a MySQL and Postgres compatible, relational database service that combines the speed and availability of high-end commercial databases with the simplicity and cost-effectiveness of open source databases. It provides up to five times better performance than MySQL at a price point one tenth that of a commercial database while delivering similar performance and availability.

As a Software Development Engineer Intern, you will be part of the Amazon Aurora Storage platform team, which is looking for experienced software engineers who are excited about building large scale systems spanning tens of thousands of servers, across multiple data-centers worldwide. These are core systems development positions where you will own the design and development of significant software components critical to our industry leading database services architect-ed for the cloud.

Key responsibilities include designing, implementing, testing, deploying and maintaining innovative software solutions to transform service performance, durability, cost, and security. You will also work cross-functionally to help drive business decisions with your technical input.

A Day in the Life

As you design and code solutions to help our team drive efficiencies in software architecture, you'll create metrics, implement automation and other improvements, and resolve the root cause of software defects.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Experience in embedded development in C/C++
