What to Expect

Maximize your full potential with this unique and highly challenging experience, offering business-wide exposure and development opportunities. The key to success lies in your ability to manage internal customer expectations and deliver against their requirements using assigned resources, often with multiple and conflicting priorities.

The Cost Engineering function is an integral part of the Finance department, responsible for ensuring the correct use of JLR funds for all aspects of the supply chain, aligning with product aspirations to deliver profitable growth. By partnering with the business in operational functions, you'll drive cost savings and efficiency.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Deliver robust, detailed, and directional Should Costs (estimates)
  • Lead initiatives to identify commodity cost-saving opportunities within JLR and the supply chain
  • Drive commercial and technical negotiations to deliver cost gap closure and act as a subject matter expert on cost drivers and commercial performance gaps for commodities in your responsibility
  • Participate in supplier selection and supplier strategy planning
  • Advise Product Engineering on design and change cost impact

What You'll Need

  • Experience with costing, manufacturing, and development of electronic components
  • Strength of character and determination to champion cost-saving opportunities and drive cost gap closure
  • Effective communication, presentation, and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders
  • Specialized manufacturing and/or design knowledge in areas such as PCB manufacturing, SMT Line Processes, Electronic and Functional Testing, Electronic Assembly
  • Specific knowledge in the design and manufacture of speakers, microphones, amplifiers, large ECUs, and compute modules
