Join Oregon State University's esteemed research community as a Research Associate in the State Fisheries Genomics Lab. This exciting opportunity is part of the Coastal Oregon Marine Experiment Station (COMES) in Newport, Oregon.
Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Associate to contribute to our team's research efforts in genetics, ecology, and evolution. The successful candidate will work closely with researchers to address the science and management needs of OSU's Coastal Oregon Marine Experiment Station and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research in genetics, ecology, and evolution, with a focus on evaluating the reintroduction of spring Chinook salmon above dams in the Upper Willamette River and evaluating the genetics of adult run timing in Chinook salmon and steelhead.
- Provide leadership in research, perform laboratory work as needed, analyze genetic and genomic datasets, and write peer-reviewed papers and technical reports.
- Work closely with coastal communities and federal, state, and private organizations in support of the COMES mission.
- Ph.D. in the biological sciences related to genetics, ecology, or evolution with an emphasis in statistics.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage respectfully with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
- Ability to clearly communicate scientific concepts, findings, and results for diverse audiences.
