Join Oregon State University's esteemed research community as a Research Associate in the State Fisheries Genomics Lab. This exciting opportunity is part of the Coastal Oregon Marine Experiment Station (COMES) in Newport, Oregon.
About the PositionWe are seeking a highly motivated and experienced researcher to contribute to our team's efforts in evaluating the reintroduction of spring Chinook salmon above dams in the Upper Willamette River and assessing the genetics of adult run timing in Chinook salmon and steelhead.
Key Responsibilities- 60% Research: Conduct research in genetics, ecology, and evolution, with a focus on statistical analysis and data interpretation.
- 25% Publications and Presentations: Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.
- 10% Data Management: Manage and analyze large datasets, including genetic and genomic data.
- 5% Outreach and Service: Collaborate with coastal communities, federal, state, and private organizations to support the COMES mission.
We are looking for a candidate with a Ph.D. in the biological sciences, with a strong background in genetics, ecology, or evolution. Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds are essential. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated publication record, experience with next-generation sequencing methodologies, and proficiency in programming languages such as R.
