About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Site Chemist to join our team. As a Site Chemist, you'll be responsible for assessing hazardous wastes at arrival on site, ensuring compliance with site requirements, and implementing strict health and safety measures. You'll work closely with our site operatives to ensure that waste is processed, stored, and transferred safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receiving chemical waste onto site from industrial and commercial sites
  • Ensuring paperwork for incoming waste is compliant and correctly completed
  • Immediate testing of incoming waste to ensure conformity with paperwork and pre-acceptance criteria
  • Further laboratory testing as needed, including flash point testing, pH testing, visual checks, odour, and viscosity
  • Working alongside site operatives to ensure safe and efficient waste processing, storage, and transfer
  • Assisting with the control of material flows through the site and maintaining container stocks to avoid delays and backlogs
  • Bulking and re-packing of waste to achieve maximum profitability
  • Supporting other site staff to ensure efficient and collaborative working
  • Running morning briefings, coordinating teams, and delegating activities to meet production requirements
  • Assisting with site compliance and health and safety requirements

Requirements

We're looking for a highly skilled and experienced Site Chemist with:

Minimum HND in Chemistry or a similar qualification with significant chemistry contentIndustrial experience in the chemical or waste industrySupervisory or leadership experience beneficialGood organisational and influencing skills
