About This Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Autism Practitioner Therapist to join our team at the West London NHS Trust.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with children and young people with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and/or Learning Disabilities (LD), providing high-quality therapeutic interventions in a CAMHS setting.

As a Trainee ASC Practitioner, you will be part of a multi-agency locality team, working collaboratively with colleagues, families, and other professionals to ensure the needs of our clients are well understood and effectively met.

Job Responsibilities
  • To provide high-quality therapeutic interventions for children and young people with ASC and/or LD, under intensive supervision;
  • To work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, liaising with other professionals in the network;
  • To assess and manage risk, ensuring the safety and well-being of our clients;
  • To maintain accurate clinical records and participate in regular supervision and practice tutor groups.
Requirements
  • A minimum second-class Bachelor's Degree or equivalent standard in a relevant subject (psychology, social work, etc.);
  • At least two years' experience of working within a professional setting concerned with the mental health of children and young people or families;
  • Basic level of clinical competence and experience (at least one year) of having worked with Autistic Individuals or those with a Learning Disability;
  • Experience of assessing and managing risk and safeguarding issues;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication style according to the varying needs and levels of comprehension of children and young people with ASC and/or LD.
