Cemeteries and Bereavement Services Team Leader Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cemeteries and Bereavement Services Team Leader to join our team at Maldon District Council.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of all aspects of the cemetery and bereavement services, including maintenance, memorial safety inspections, and income management.
  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize the use of land, explore cemetery extension opportunities, and identify savings and efficiencies within the service.
  • Manage the development of an online presence, including guidance and information for the public, and develop a district-wide memorial scheme.
  • Recognize potential revenue sources, such as columbaria, burial mounds, and online records, and work towards awards and recognition.
  • Provide supervision, direction, and guidance to staff and volunteers, as well as contract management in the delivery of services.
  • Assist in introducing a cemetery management solution to centralize all data records.

Requirements:

  • Experience of working within a cemetery service environment and dealing with members of the public.
  • Full driving license and qualifications/experience as listed in the job description.
