Job Title: Travel Health and Immunisation Nurse

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Travel Health and Immunisation Nurse at Powys Teaching Health Board.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Travel Health and Immunisation Nurse to join our School Nursing Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the safe and efficient delivery of the school-based immunisation programme as directed by Welsh Government.

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, a positive attitude to public health, and the ability to work under pressure. They will also be able to organise their own routine and work without day-to-day supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of the school-based immunisation programme
  • Increase local uptake of childhood immunisations to meet national and regional targets
  • Contribute to the planning, delivery, and evaluation of immunisation programmes to school-age children
  • Administer immunisations, vaccinations, and adrenaline as needed, according to Powys Health Board's Patient Group Directives
  • Ensure the delivery of the highest possible standards of quality-assured, evidence-based practice
  • Assist in chasing up children who have not returned their consent forms and coordinate planned mop-up immunisation sessions
  • Participate in health education and promotion programmes to improve the uptake of immunisations
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse with current registration with the NMC
  • National Minimum Standards for Immunisation Training
  • Experience of working with children and young people
  • Understanding of the public health role of the Immunisation Nurse
  • Good skills in the delivery of immunisations
  • IT literate, with experience of Microsoft Outlook, email, and internet use
