We are seeking a Specialist Tutor to join our team at Tradewind Recruitment, working in a specialist secondary school/pupil referral unit located in Workington, West Cumbria.

The school caters to students with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH), as well as special educational needs including ASC, MLD, and ADHD, providing a unique learning environment.

About the Opportunity

This position involves supporting 3 pupils per day on a full-time, 1:1 basis, requiring the successful candidate to have experience in SEN or PRU settings and the ability to work closely with pupils presenting a range of additional needs.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Tailored Support: Plan and deliver personalized 1:1 sessions for students with a range of additional needs, addressing specific areas of difficulty and promoting academic growth.
  2. Curriculum Design: Create and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of students, incorporating various teaching methods and resources.
  3. EHCP Collaboration: Work closely with EHCPs to ensure that pupil needs are accurately assessed and met through targeted interventions and support strategies.
  4. Pupil Progress: Regularly monitor and evaluate pupil progress, making informed decisions to adjust instruction and strategies as needed to optimize learning outcomes.
Requirements
  • An enhanced DBS certificate and professional references checks are mandatory for this role.
  • A CV with at least 10 years of employment/education history must be provided, highlighting relevant experience and qualifications.
  • Holding QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification is highly desirable but not essential.
  • The legal right to work in the UK is necessary for this position.
