This is a locum consultant position for 12 months at Imperial College Healthcare Trust. The postholder will have expertise in all forms of echo imaging, including lab-based structural echo imaging.

Main Duties
  • Undertake patient-facing activities, including specialist echo imaging, general cardiology, and specialist valve clinics.
  • Support the current infectious endocarditis service lead in delivering regular IE ward rounds and a weekly MDT.
  • Create and deliver service development work, with allocated time in the job plan.
  • Participate in yearly quotas of cardiology on-call for ward cover.
Responsibilities
  • Leverage Consultant-led care to support the current service.
  • Take on a service development role and lead on or contribute to various areas, including specialist structural imaging, valve clinics, and IE service.
Requirements
  • Be on the GMC's register with a Licence to Practice or eligible to apply for GMC registration and a Licence to Practice.
  • Be on the GMC's Specialist Register or within 6 months of being admitted to the register by the date of the interviews or eligible for specialist registration.
  • Have appropriate Royal College Membership.
  • Hold a higher degree relevant to heart failure (MD, PhD).
Skills and Qualifications
  • Comprehensive clinical experience in Cardiology.
  • Ability to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Expertise in interventional and structural cardiology.
  • IT skills and computer literacy.
  • Further expertise in imaging.
Leadership and Management Skills
  • Able to take responsibility, show leadership, make decisions, exert appropriate authority.
  • Have proven skills in leading, motivating, developing, and managing the performance of colleagues.
  • Knowledge of finance/budgets.
  • Management of staff.
  • Experience of developing and motivating staff.
Teaching and Training
  • Experience of teaching and training undergraduates/postgraduates and junior medical staff.
  • Teaching qualification.
Audit
  • Understanding of the principles of audit.
Academic Achievements
  • Understanding of the principles and applications of clinical research.
  • Evidence of original research.
  • High-impact publications in the field of heart failure.
Language
  • Able to speak and write English to the appropriate standard necessary to fulfill the job requirements.
Interpersonal Skills
  • Excellent written and spoken communications, ability to build rapport, work with others, listen, persuade, negotiate.
  • Empathy, understanding, listening skills, patience, and ability to work co-operatively with others.
  • Able to change and adapt, respond to changing circumstances, and cope with setbacks or pressure.
  • Able to work as part of a team.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Depending on experience, the salary will be between £93,666 and £126,281 per annum WTE.
